COC Nederland

COC Nederland , in the past Cultuur in Ontspannings-Centrum ( Entertaining Arts center ), is an organization Dutchwoman of defense of the rights of homosexual and sexuellées minorities created in 1946. It is oldest association LGBT in the world.

General information

The COC is a federation, made up of 24 antennas through the Netherlands and equipped with a management committee. With the local scales, the COC is a place of reception, information and sociability. With the national scales the COC is more than one simple association, it is a lobby equipped with average materials, financial and human, enabling him to develop government schemes in the name of the community which it represents. “Regarded as one of the most important homosexual organizations of the world, the COC has of knowledge, aptitudes and networks which enable him to practically answer in the whole world various requests for support: strategy, formation of networks, defense of interests, organization, lodging, management of personnel, treasury, etc the COC can take care of these tasks directly and/or indirectly. And this on a scale required by each situation given. ”

General policy

The general policy of the COC is spread along four axes:

1) to sensitize youth with discrimination homophobe (school interventions in medium);
2) to support the elderly and to offer adapted services of care to them (old people's homes gay friendly);
3) to support people LGBT resulting from ethnic minorities;
4) international solidarity in certain country where the situation of homosexual and the lesbians is dramatic, the COC proposes its experiment in this field.

Financing

The sources of revenue of the COC are the following ones: contributions of the members, gifts and legacy, subsidies (generally by project) and marketing activities.
