CKAC
CKAC 730 is a radio station of Montreal, with the Quebec. Property of Corus Quebec since 2005, it is famous to have been the first station Francophone of America. It diffuses on the Bande AM.
History
the Twenties
Jacques-Narcisse Cartier is the journalist and expert technician who created the CKAC the October 2nd 1922. the Eighties
Rodger Brulotte animates the matches of Expos for the first time in 1986. Claude Charron presents the news regularly. André Pratte also works at the station. Pierre Pascau animates the adviser in the Eighties.Rene Lévesque, deceased in 1987, finished its career with CKAC with Jacques Proulx. André Arthur is named to replace it.
the Nineties

2000-2007

The evening finishes with Ron Fournier which animates the emission Good evening the sportsmen since 1987. The evenings of matches of hockey, the usual programming yields the step to Martin MacGuire and Danny Dubé for the presentation and the analysis of the match, follow-up of the emission of Ron Fournier. The other organizers of CKAC are Serge Plaisance, Roger Drolet, André Pelletier, Jean-Charles Lajoie, Jérémie Rainville, Rodger Brulotte and Martin Lemay.
Future
March 1st 2007, CKAC announces that starting from April 2nd, 2007 the station diffuses only sporting news and will concentrate only on the field of the sport.The future of the station was questioned these last years because of the decline of the radio operator AMNDT Astral Media seeks a purchaser since he became his owner in 2002.
Quebecor wanted to buy the station, but this offer was blocked by CRTC to avoid a too great concentration of the media. A consortium then offered to buy the station, but since withdrew this offer.
In 2004, Corus Entertainment offered to buy CKAC and the other station of Astral for the price of eleven million dollars. The CRTC approved this transaction in January 2005.
The intention of Corus was at the beginning to close the center of news of the CKAC to reorientate the contents towards the Sports and the Santé. That put in anger a broad audience which perceived the traditional contents like a Québécois cultural institution.
A call had been launched in front of the Canadian Federal government to cancel the purchase of Corus, but the room of new officially closed the May 30th 2005. Recently the station was criticized for its chronicles on the sex has hour for great listening.
