CAD Song
CAD Song (? - v. 192) or Ts' ao Song (zh-Hant traditional Chinese 曹嵩 and simplified) was imperial minister Chinese and general-in-chief at the time of the end of the Dynastie Han. Its social first name was Jugao (zh-Hant 巨高). It is mainly known to have been the father of CAD CAD, Prime Minister for Han, and the grandfather of CAD pi, first emperor of the dynasty Wei. In 220, during the inauguration of dynasty Wei, CAD Song accepted the posthumous title of emperor Tai (zh-Hant 太皇帝, meaning “large”).
Biography
Genealogy
CAD Song is an adoptive son of eunuque the CAD Teng which gives him its family name and fact of him its heir. The genealogy of CAD Song is very dubious. According to the official historical chronicle of Chen Shou ( Chronic of the Three Kingdoms ), it was impossible to reassemble its family tree. According to other documents, like the Biography of CAD Cheating the or the History of the world , CAD Song belonged to the Xiahou clan initially and was the uncle of Xiahou Dun.
Career
According to the Book of Han supplemented , CAD Song is made known for its kindness and its diligence, like for its honesty and its filial devotion. It enters to the imperial service as a colonel of the intendants (zh-Hant 司隸校尉).CAD Song traverses the levels until the emperor Lingdi promises it at the post of minister Agriculture (zh-Hant 大司農).
According to the Book of Han posterior , CAD Song bribes the eunuques ones up to hundred million gold coins to aspire to the station of general-in-chief (zh-Hant 太尉), one of the most important stations of China of the time. Towards December 187 - January 188, the general-in-chief Cui Lie is dislocated of its functions and CAD Song inherits its station. However, CAD Song itself is dislocated of this station or leaves later it five months.
Died
The date of died of CAD Song is not known with precision. According to the Book of Han posterior , it dies before 194. According to the Zizhi Tongjian , it is killed before 193. The narration of the Chroniques of the Three Kingdoms leaves think that it was killed during the rebellion of Dong Zhuo (between 189 and 192).The circumstances of its death are not either clearly defined:
- According to the Chronic of the Three Kingdoms , CAD Song leaves its functions, and is withdrawn on its grounds with Qiao (today the town of Bozhou in the province of Anhui). During the rebellion of Dong Zhuo, it takes refuge in Langya where it is assassinated by CAT Qian, the guard of the province of Xu, which leads his/her son CAD CAD to launching a reprisal campaign in 193;
- according to the Book of Han posterior , CAD Song and its son CAD Of leave Langya to go towards Taishan. Ying Shao, the large administrator of Taishan sends troops to accommodate it, but CAD Song does not come. Meanwhile, CAT Qian, which had hatred towards CAD Song because his/her son CAD Shu had attacked it, sends a section of light cavalry to kill CAD Song and CAD Of. When Ying Shao learns the news, it takes fear that CAD CAD does not consider it responsible (because the assassination took place on its grounds), and leaves to take refuge towards Yuan Shao, the guard of the province of Ji;
- according to the History of the world , CAD Song is in Taishan and CAD CAD gives to Ying Shao the order to escort its family towards the province of Yan. When CAT Qian hears the news, it sends its troops to assassinate CAD Song before the arrival of the escort of Ying Shao. CAD Song believes that it is about its escort and is not wary until his/her son CAD is made assassinate by the troops of CAT Qian. CAD Song then tries to flee, but his/her concubine, strong large, blocks the passage of the aunt to him. It tries in last end to take refuge in the latrines, but it is discovered and massacred with all the members of its families which were present on the spot. When Ying Shao learns the news, it fears that CAD CAD does not consider it responsible, and flees at Yuan Shao;
- according to the Book of Wu , CAD Song had with him many valuable articles. CAT Qian sends to him an escort of two hundred riders, directed by the general Zhang Kai. Zhang Kai decides to betray CAT Qian and to kill CAD Song to seize its fortune.
- finally, the Zizhi Tongjian tells a mixture of these versions: CAT Qian finds refuge with Langya and his/her son CAD CAD orders to the large administrator of Taishan to prepare an escort to him to accommodate it. On its side, CAT Qian also grants an escort for its way to him towards Taishan. CAD Song has with him a hundred carriages of possessions and richnesses. While arriving at the district of Hooted, the soldiers of the escort of CAT Qian decide to attack it to seize the richnesses and kill it, like his/her son CAD Of.
According to the Book of Wei , the tombs of CAD Song and CAD Teng are located in counted of Chenliu (zh-Hant 陳留).
The attempts at CAD CAD to avenge death for his/her father will appear unfruitful because CAT Qian will die of disease before CAD CAD cannot seize its province.
In 220, CAD pi decrees with CAD Song the posthumous title of Tai emperor.
