C-3PO

C-3PO (translated in the French doubling of films, to stick to the lips actors, by Z-6PO) is a Droïde of protocol of the saga the Star Wars .

It is a protocolar of form humanoïde, particularly loquacious droïde and, according to its dires, “controlling more than six million forms of communication”.

His/her companion of always is R2-D2, forming a duet inspired by Laurel and Hardy and Tahei and Matashichi the two peasants in the film the hidden Fortress of Akira Kurosawa.

Biography

At the origin (episode I) built starting from spare parts assembled by Anakin child to help his mother, her internal parts were visible and it was curiously modest. After the departure of Anakin, his/her mother, Shmi, provide him a metal carcass of color (between episode I and episode II) which was then replaced by another carcass gilded by the embassy of Naboo when it entered to the service of the sénatrice Padmé (in the animated series Clone Wars , between the episode II and episode III).

It met R2-D2 on the planet Tatooine (from where it had never moved), then binds between them a “friendship” which will last until the end of the saga…

Significance

C-3PO : It would be the acronym of Class Three Protocol Operative . One as says in the novelisation of '' the phantom Threat by Terry Brooks as Anakin Skywalker, manufacturer of C-3PO, gave him figure 3 because he regards it as the third member of his family, after his mother, Shmi Skywalker, and itself.

to note that in the wide universe, there exist other robots whose name finishes by -3PO, in particular M-3PO, which assists the Escadron Rogue. As M-3PO is a droïde soldier and civil C-3PO, some see there a possible significance for C.

Inspiration

The appearance of C-3PO would be inspired by the androïde Maria film Metropolis of Fritz Lang. However, in the final aspect, it is clearly treated like a male character.

Anecdotes

C-3PO is 112 years old at the time of episode IV. The spare parts that Anakin had found and assembled were 80 years old.
