Cần Thơ
Cần Thơ is a city of the Việt Nam whose population was estimated at approximately 1.000.000 inhabitants in 2006 by taking account of the whole of the districts constituting it. Cần Thơ is more the big city of the Delta of the Mekong and the place chief of the province bearing the same name. It was the theater of violent one engagements between the American troops and North-Vietnamese in August 1967.
University town of the delta and important node of communications, it currently knows an important economic advancement as well as a development of tourism thanks to its many centers of interest (gone floating, quay Ninh Kiều).
A flotilla of dugouts and Sampan S charged with fruit and vegetables animates each day the market floating of Cân Tho, center political and economic of the Mekong delta. Formed by the silt of the river which gives to water their earthy color, this immense delta which currently extends on 40 000 square kilometers gains every year 79 meters on the sea.
