Céride

The cérides are Ester S of fatty Alcool and a Fatty-acid. They form the major part of the Cire S (vegetable, of bee…). They are solid, colorless, insoluble substances in the Eau, soluble in the Benzène, the Chloroforme and are chemically inert.

For example, the palmitate of cetyl present in the Spermaceti (spermaceti): H_ {3} C (CH_ {2}) _ {14} - CO-O-CH_ {2} - (CH_ {2}) _ {14} - CH_ {3}
