Céreste

Céreste is a common French, located in the department of the Alp-of-High-Provence and the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure.

Its inhabitants is called Cérestains.

Geography

Protected in north by the mounts from Vaucluse, and in the south by the chain of the Luberon, Céreste occupies a situation privileged at the border between the low one and high the Provence, on old the via Domitia.

Village close to the Vaucluse, relates Western from the Alpes de Haute-Provence, in edge of Encrême, to.

History

Old " Catuiacia" , Céreste was at the time Roman a strengthened station and on the via Domitia; the beginnings of the Christianisme are represented there by the priory of Carluc with 3 km from there.
