Célimène Gaudieux
Born with Saint-Paul the April 20th 1807 and died in this same commune the July 13rd 1864, Célimène Gaudieux was a landlord locality the Saltworks which were still used and are used of symbol and MUSE for the Poésie and with the Popular culture S of the island of the Réunion.
Biography
Wire of slave S freed, his/her father is a Creole of the name of Louis Edmond Jeance born in Saint-Paul the September 28th 1789 and which will die in Saint-Pierre the December 12th 1854. Born with Jans for name from young girl, the first is then 23 years old. It is about that which one calls today Célimène.It enjoys to be praised to be the grand-daughter of Évariste de Parny, poet réunionnais who would have had a connection with his maternal grandmother, a Malagasy slave . She marries certain Pierre Gaudieux in any case the October 3rd 1839 with Saint-Paul. This one will die in 1852 leaving Célimène then 45 years old with five dependant childrens. It receives the assistance of Joseph then the Hare, a sugar owner to trust “ to have been able to be of some utility to downward, even of the left hand, the poet Parny ”.
Posterity
Even if she did not attend the school, Célimène is equipped with a sharp intelligence which she nourishes while attending of many sugar owners.
