Cæcum

The cæcum is the first part of the Côlon, a Organe pertaining to the gastro-intestinal Système. It is made of a bag to which the opening of the Valvule iléo-cæcale is brought together (also called valvule of Bauhin). It is on the level of this Valvule that the Iléon flows in the colon. The appendix, which can give the Appendicite, prolongs the cæcum downwards. Its site and its temperature make of it a body very vulnerable to the diseases.

The rodents are equipped with a cecum of size relatively important and filled of bacteria facilitating digestion.
