Jean-Michel Saive (born with Liege the November 17th 1969) is a Belgian pongist .

Born in a family from impassioned pongists, it begins the Table tennis very young. At 13 years, it forms already part of the best Belgian players and obtains his first selection in the national team.

In 1985, he is the first player classified in Belgium; place that it occupies always today (2007).

In 1994, it reaches the first world place which it will keep during 515 days (of February 9th 1994 at June 8th 1995 and of March 26th 1996 at April 24th 1996).

He is also vice-champion of the individual world in 1993, finalist of the individual world cup in 1994 and 2003, finalist of the championship of the world by team with the Belgium in 2001. Lastly, it takes part in five Olympiads (Seoul in 1988, Barcelona in 1992, Atlanta in 1996, Sydney in 2000 and Athens in 2004), carrying even the flag of the delegation in 1996 and 2004.

Its many exploits make of him the larger Belgian pongist of all times but also one of the best sportsmen than the Kingdom of Belgium knew. In 1991, it is elected sportsman of the year and in addition receives the national trophy of the sporting merit.

But Jean-Michel Saive is known as much for its victories than for its sportivity. In 1989, it receives the world price of the fair play of UNESCO.

Apart from the table, its charisma, its availability and its great popularity make of him a sportsman but also a very appreciated man.
