Byzantine rite
The Byzantine rite or rite constantinopolitain is the liturgical rite employed by the whole of the orthodoxe Églises and by several Eastern Catholic churches.
History
The Byzantine rite comes from the synthesis between the old rite cathédral of the Église of Constantinople, fallen in disuse starting from the 10th century, and the monastic form of the Rite of the Church of Jerusalem, itself fallen in disuse starting from the Croisades.
