Byron Gordon

In the universe of Babylon 5 , Byron Gordon is a telepathic dissenting come to settle on the station Babylon 5 into 2262 with his/her companions to escape the Corps Psi. He was played by the British actor Robin Atkin Downes.

Biography

Agent of the Psi Body

Telepathic, Byron Gordon becomes an agent of the Corps Psi, charged to stop the telepathic dissidents who do not subject to the laws a land Alliance of control of the telepathic ones.

In the middle of years 2250, it is located by Alfred Bester, one of the most famous agents of the Psi Body. Byron assists it in several operations to recover dissidents, but also at the time of secret operations where the nontelepathic ones ( mundanes ) are eliminated on the order from Bester.

In February 2262, it joined the station Babylon 5 to obtain the right to establish a free colony of the regulations of land Alliance. Indeed, land Alliance delegated the direction of the station to the interstellar Alliance (BOARD), and Byron counts on the generosity of the president of the BOARD, John Sheridan.

An arm wrestling engages then between Sheridan and the Psi Body represented by Bester while Byron falls in love with the telepathic resident from the station, Lyta Alexander. Thanks to it, he discovers that the telepathic ones are the result of genetic engineering carried out by the Vorlons on several people of the galaxy. Disappeared Vorlons, Byron asserts a planet with the BOARD like repair of the undergone wrongs.

In June 2262, having lost the support of the ambassadors of the BOARD and after a taking of hostages carried out by members of his group, Byron commits suicide with the culprits.

With the financial support and logistics of Lyta Alexander, telepathic dissidents launch out in a terrorist guerilla against the Psi Body as of the death of Byron on Babylon 5. They sign their acts of the sentence “ Remember Byron ” (in remembering Byron).

These acts end in the war of Telepathic on Earth and Mars which lead quickly to an improvement of the rights of Human telepathic.

Byron in the series

The character of Byron replaces partly the character of Marcus Cole, dead at the end of the fourth season. Actors and characters are of English origin and bring a tragic key to the series. Appeared in the course of series, they bind with a female character of this one and an attention and a love bring to him which they did not know until there.

However, Byron is different by the topic. It highlights the problem of telepathic and the place of Lyta Alexander, which makes it possible Joe Michael Straczynski to close the series at the fifth season while having outlined an end with the intrigues related to the Corps Psi.

If the actress Claudia Christian had not left the series at the end of season 4, it is its character, Susan Ivanova, which would be enthusiast of Byron and its telepathic latent capacities known ones since several seasons would then have had a big role.

Byron Gordon is named according to the British writer George Gordon Byron, known under the name of Lord Byron.
