Toponymy

The toponym Buzy appears under its current form since 1096 and the forms Busia (1170, titles of Barcelona), Busi (XIIe century, titles of Gabas), Buzi in Bag (1343, titles of Pardies), Buzii (1429, files of the town hall of Buzy), Saint-Saturnin de Buzy (1608, insinuations of the diocese of Oloron), Busy (1614, reformation of Béarn).

Its origin is Latin and it means field of Busius .

History

Paul Raymond note that it in the church of Buzy four Prébende S had founded there under the invocation of saint Blaise .
In 1385, Buzy counted 55 fires and depended on the Bailliage of Ossau.
