Buxerolles is a common French, located in the department of the Vienna and the area Poitou-Charentes. It is the more important third of many inhabitants after Poitiers and Châtellerault more than cash 10000 inhabitants. Its inhabitants are called the Buxerollois .

Geography

Buxerolles is located at the north of Poitiers.

History

A long time simple hamlet, Buxerolles is today the third commune of the department with more than 10.000 inhabitants.

Prehistory: In 2004, archaeological excavations revealed traces of civilization dating from the Neolithic era and the Bronze Age.

The Roman Way: At the time of the Romain Empire, Buxerolles was located on one of the most important transportation routes of Gaulle: via Turonensis.

The Saint-Jacob No: Located on the ways of Saint-Jacob, Buxerolles was the crossing point of the pilgrims. They stopped in Buxerolles to collect itself on a strange print.

The city of the Beavers: After the Second world war, vis-a-vis the lack of residences, of the companies “Beavers” are created: it is about a co-operative movement where each one built itself its house. In Buxerolles, it is into 1949 that the adventure begins from the Beavers. In addition to the realization of 144 houses, it is a true district which emerged, including/understanding a shopping mall, a village hall, a school and a church, built in 1962. The construction of the city of the Beavers marked a turning in the history of Buxerolles: from now on, the commune entered the era of the urbanization.

The church Saint-Philippe and Saint-Jacob: On the current site of the church of the Borough, several constructions followed one another between XIe and the XIXe century.

A church is built in XIe century. Of relatively modest size (approximately 22 m out of 8 m), this one is increased in XIIe century. To XIXe, a bell-tower of Romance style comes to supplement the building. Unfortunately, the masonry being in a state of advanced decay, this one must be rebuilt between 1867 and 1869.
