The butterfly fish of the Easter Island is a butterfly fish which belongs to the sub-genus Lepidochaetodon . In 1984, André Maugé and Roland Bauchot proposed to allot this species to their new kind Heterochaetodon , which would give like scientific name for this fish Heterochaetodon litus .

Morphology

  • Size: up to 15 cm.

Its coloring is gray black, with a white edging.

Biology and ecology

It is a coral fish which lives in benches, and which nourishes algae and invertebrates.
