Busset

Busset is a common French, located in the department Allier and the area Auvergne.

Geography

The western part of the commune corresponds to the alluvial plain Allier with a sandy alluvial ground. The south-western part has an altitude from 500 to 600 m; the ground consists of granitic rocks, gneiss or mica schist. The northern part between 400 and 500 m is made up mainly of sandstone. History

Busset is a place in charge of history. The castle testifies to its last size. Many works report this history. Amongst other things let us quote a book of Jean Charles Varennes on the Bourbon Busset and two books of Jean Corre. Built at the end of the 13th century by the Lords of Vichy, the castle of Busset have foundations which go back to the origin of feudality. Altered and modified during the ages, it preserved a silhouette of medieval fortress, but, remains family that its inhabitants always wanted to embellish, it also brings to us, with its frontages, its openings, its terraces, the smile of the rebirth. One penetrates in the interior court by a drawbridge above a broad ditch. Beyond the main door which protects its low towers, two large body of home is cut in right angle, flanked of three imposing round towers. The “gross tower” which had to be the keep of the medieval time, is still called the Tower Henri IV in remembering the visit of the Gallant Green to his/her cousin César de Bourbon Busseten 1599. The tower of south-eastern angle, of more reduced size, was used as prison in the most moved back times and shelters the files of the family nowadays. Lastly, vis-a-vis the setting one, rises charming it tower of the 15th century, known as Tour of Riom, remarkable by its wood hourd and its shingles of chestnut in a perfect state of conservation. An elegant vault of Gothic style built in 1858 in the court of the castle is used as family burial. Previously, on this site, the parish church of Busset occupied all the center of the interior court which it separated in two parts. It was demolished and replaced by the current church built on the ditches and bénite on December 24th, 1840. The environment of the castle also was the subject of many embellishments of very good taste. With its formal gardens and with the Italian , gardens, swimming pool, foliations, terraces, it currently constitutes one of the most beautiful whole of Auvergne and Bourbonnais. Fourteen generations of Bourbon-Busset followed one another without interruption in this residence since this January 1498, dates from the marriage contract of Marguerite de Tourzel d' Allègre who brought the grounds of Busset to Pierre de Bourbon, chamberlain of Louis XII, descendant of Robert de Clermont, the sixth wire of St Louis.

Created in Busset on March 1st, 1941 by Jean Devaux known trade union of the stockbrokers to the profit of the prisoners of BUSSET. This song was interprêté by the young people of Busset at the time of a representation given in the garage of the castle to the profit of the prisoners of BUSSET.

Sebastien Japrisot: writer and scenario writer, born the July 4th 1931 with Marseilles, Sebastien Japrisot had been established in Bourbonnais in 1990 after a long Parisian tour. He died in Vichy the March 4th 2003.
