Bussang

Bussang is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.

Its inhabitants is called Bussenets.

Geography

Located at the south-eastern end of Lorraine, with the borders of the Alsace, the commune of Bussang sees being born the the Moselle and is stretched in length in the valley of the young river. It is surrounded by covered balloons of forests, of which the Head of New Wood (1231 m), the Head of Fellering or Large Drumont (1222 m), the Drumont (1200 m), the Head of Bouloie (1166 m) and the Head of the Corbels (1093 m). Remiremont is with 34 km and Thann to 26 km by the Col of Bussang. A small road leads directly to Ventron by the Col of the Page.

One practices the Alpine skiing with Bouloie and Larcenaire (altitude 900/1100 m) and the Ski touring with Rochelotte .

History

The high valley of the Moselle was borrowed by the Roman Voie connecting Metz to Basle. Bussang and the Saint-Maurice-on-Moselle were gathered under the name of Visentine until in 1420, name which the parish until its partition in kept 1767.

In February 1856, of the sisters of the convent Holy Spirit de Rouceux, come to answer an epidemic of Cholera, founded an old people's home to accommodate the old men and orphans.

The development of the city was based successively on the exploitation of rather modest mines of Plomb, Cuivre and money, of mineral water then on textile industry. Benjamin Pottecher, industrialist specialized in the manufacture of covers and mayor of the locality, were one of the first in France to apply the eight hours day. ; Blasonnement: Quartered with the sinople 1° to an open money country cottage of sand and cover of mouths, with the 2° of azure to a money trout circumvented put in fasce, with the gold 3° to a torn off sinople fir tree and with the gold 4° with two sinople mountains from where runs out a money river.

Created towards 1907 by Benjamin Pottecher, then first magistrate of the commune, it represents natural environment: the mountain farm, the trout of the brooks, the fir tree of the forests and the incipient Moselle.

Mineral water

Discovered with mountainside, water of Bussang transformed the city into Thermal spa. Four sources were updated, the large one and small the Salmade , the Demoiselles and the source Marie .

At the 17th century, the dukes of Lorraine were attracted by this natural wealth. It is about a ferruginous Eau and reconstituting, recommended to fight against the Anémie. One of the Slogan S of the time said “Bussang = Drunk Sang”. Starting from the middle of the 19th century, the activity developed and a hydropathic establishment modern was born. Ransacked during both War S world, the establishment lost the approval of the Social security in 1958 because of the too low flow and a bacterial contamination of three of the sources previously quoted. The approval of public utility was withdrawn. This is why in 1971, the factory of congestion closed its doors to leave room to a limonadery which, in its turn, périclita at the end of the years 1980.

Bussang does not despair however to find, in the near future, its glorious passed of thermal city. Indeed, of the private investors bought part of the site in 1997, cleansed it and are on the way to currently become owner of the other part of the site in compulsory liquidation. They have today a new source, that of the Charat Mount, being studied in Straumann, hydrologist in Strasbourg. This new source has the same characteristics as the sources Salmade and Demoiselle now not exploitable because of their bacterial contamination. Only the " rescapée" is the Marie source, communal property thus opened with the public.

The common one supposedly bought the old site of congestion, by the means of a pre-emption. This pre-emption is the procedure object in front of the Administrative court of Nancy and the TGI of Épinal. The Commune in is thus not completely owner. At all events the old points of emergence of the site of congestion remain victims of bacterial pollution and only the drilling of the source of the Charat Mount, property of private investors, will allow the revival of a congestion. A project is being studied.

Chosen by the municipality, the group Vikings created an establishment of plays, equipped with 50 machines with under and of traditional plays, as well as restaurant and of a theater. The casino is open since November 9th, 2006, Bussang not having never lost its statute of thermal city. The authorization of the ministry for the Interior was acquired on July 19th, 2005.

The Theater of the People

The Théâtre of the People was created by Maurice Pottecher in 1895. Entirely of wood, the theater with the characteristic to be able to open on the back of the stage, offering an unusual and mountain natural decoration. Source of the Moselle

A fountain located at 731 meters of altitude, close to the Collar of Bussang, is presented as the official source but the the Moselle is formed meeting of several brooks of which some sourdent with more than 1000 meters, on the slopes of Large Drumont.

The overall length of the river is of 560 km including 313 in France, 39 formant border between Luxembourg and Germany, and 208 exclusively in Germany.

- the first Via ferrata of the Vosgean solid mass, created in July 2007 by the commune. Free, it is of an easy, ideal level for initiation; it is called besides " Rando ferrata".
