Burnous

The burnous or bournous , barnous in Arab and avidhi in Kabyle, is a long coat in Laine with a hood pointed and without handle.

The burnous belongs to the traditional Costume Tunisian. It was also carried by the Spahis.

In Algeria, particularly in Kabylie, the burnous is a traditional dress produced containing wool of Mouton or ewe. Traditionally made to the house by the women, the trade is transmitted to it of mother as a girl. Often of white color, it can be of color chestnut. Carried by the men, the women also wear a dress of the same a little different kind but because made in Coton.
