The burnet ( Sanguisorba minor ) is a long-lived herbaceous plant of the family of the Rosacée S.
Description
It is a plant with the especially basal, pennate sheets (to 12 pairs of toothed round leaflets). the flowers are very small, in globulous heads, the higher females with red styles, lower the males with hanging cheesecloths than the Anthère S yellows.
Surface of distribution
It is a common plant in all the Europe, of the dry meadows especially on calcareous ground.
Uses
The sheets have a characteristic cucumber taste; it for that was sometimes used formerly to decorate salads.
