Burebista
Burebista , largest of the kings Daces, reigned of 70 av. J. - C. with 44 av. J. - C.. It carries out the union of the populations Thraces since the river Hercinica (current the Moravie in the west, until the Bug in the east, and of the Carpates of north with Dionysopolis, and chooses its capital (named Argedava or Sargedava) close to Costeşti, today in the south-west of the Romania (in the Monts Orăştie - to see Citadelles daces mounts Orăştie).
The true name of Burebista was lost, but its epopee is told by the Greek chroniclers under the name of Byrebistas .
The spiritual center was called Kogaion (or Kagaion , the crowned mountain ) by Strabon, and it is thought that it was located some share in the Monts Bucegi. According to Jordanes, in its Getica, the large priest, adviser of Burebista, was Dicineus (Deceneus), which held " almost all the capacities royaux" and dictated in Daces the " laws belagines" , ethics and scientists, including physics and astronomy.
In the south of the the Danube, the proconsul of the Roman province of Macedonia is the general Varro Lucullus. At the time of the Wars of Mithridate (74 av. J. - C. - 72 av. Burebista continues its incursion into the area, and conquers the Celtic Aliobrix (Cartal, in Bessarabia of the south, currently in Ukraine), Tyras and Odessos (today Varna).
In 48 av. J. - C., Burebista intervenes in the competition between Jules César and Pompée, that it chooses like ally. Three years later, César beats its adversary. It plans to send its legions to punish Burebista, but it is assassinated with ides of march in 44 av. J. - C..
The same year, Burebista is him also assassinated.
