Bungles

Bungles is a Web site, founded in 1999 per Remi Lauzon who was in the beginning a personal site of absurd news, treating local celebrities of the Quebec.

The beginning

In 1999, Bungles was a simple personal site of its founder. Lodged by the free services of Lycos. The visits were not frequent, hardly about thirty people visited the site not week. To attract the arrivals on the site, the old mascot of 7UP, Fido Dido, was used like representative. The site said that the mascot had had to be another employment following the cuts at the multinational.

The new version

In 2000, Bungles tries to reach a reasonable level of visit, version 2 of the site is launched, with several new sections, and this time with a team. More question only of having one central page. In this version, the sections sport, showbiz, plays, Receipts and a weekly data base. All its sections were news invented once again. The site attracted a tiny improvement vis-a-vis the visits.

It will have to be waited a few months before publicity is made on the Québécois major sites. Passing from publicity in forums or French-speaking cat Québécois.

The top

In 2001, once again a new version was launched and created a shock at the French-speaking Canadian community. Supporting the technology WAP, which let the followers of the site connect themselves via their portable. In 2002, the project of Bungles simulates the purchase on behalf of Quebecor, while making use of the official logo of this one. And going until closing sections. A few months after, in 2003, Bungles signs its death warrant by itself by closing the site if coveted. After reached impressive visits, exceeding quickly more than 2.500 visits per week. No reason was given for closing.

In September 2005, Bungles gave again signs of life during a few days, the Grèves coeds at the collegial and university level. Leaving comments on the sites supporting the cause of the students. Some news was created against the Prime Minister Jean Charest on this occasion.
