Bund (Shanghai)
Bund (which means bank or quay in language Urdu - 外灘) is a boulevard of the town of Shanghai in Popular republic of China, marked out sompteux buildings of European style and banks or colonial companies of the years 1930. Located within old the international Concession of Shanghai, Bund is located at the east of the District of Huangpu, on western bank of the river Huangpu, vis-a-vis the District of Pudong.
History
Bund of Shanghai includes/understands a dozen historical buildings dating from the time of the international concessions as well as the consulate of Russia and Great Britain.It was located in the zone Anglo-American. At the dawn of the Forties, it even included/understood the business districts of the majority of the totality of the foreign companies operating in China including 4 principal banks of the République of China.
On Communist arrival of the S with the capacity, the near total of the financial institutions left the country whereas the hotels and the clubs ceased their activities. the colonial statues which strewed the walk were unbolted.
At the end of the Seventies and with beginning of the year 80, the major part of the buildings of Bund were restored to become again of the hotels, the banks or the financial institutions.
A new walk located 10 m at the top of the level of the street was built.
From the years 1990, Bund becomes one of major tourist attractions of Shanghai.
Geography
Bund measures 1,5 km and starts in the south with Yan' year Road (old avenue Edward VII) and finishes with the Pont Waibaidu (old Garden Bridge) with the top of the river of Suzhou.Bund extends along Zhongshan Road, thus baptized in the honor of Sun Yat-SEN.
On Zhongshan Road, one counts 52 buildings of the European types which symbolize the colonial architecture of Bund.
Close to the Street to Nankin and tourist tunnel which connects two banks of Huangpu finds a gigantic bronze statue of Chen Yi, the first communist mayor of the city.
At the northern end of Bund, the park of Huangpu includes/understands the monument of the heroes of the people dedicated to the revolutionary martyrs.

- Clouded Merchants Bank Building , the first Chinese bank.

- HSBC Building (1921), greater banking institution of Asia at the beginning of the century, the building was occupied by the municipality as from the Fifties and during 46 years. It is the seat of the Bank of development of Pudong since 1995.
- Maison of the customs (1927) whose clock and bell are copied from those of Big Ben.

Transport
No subway station connects Bund directly. The line n° 2 desert the station nearest on the street to Nankin at 5 minutes with feet.
