Bujanovac

Bujanovac , in Serb Cyrillic Sr Бујановац and in Albanian sq Bujanoci, is a city and a municipality of Serbia located in the valley of Preševo. They belong to the district of Pčinja. In 2002, the city counted: 12011 inhabitants, of which a relative majority of Serb, and the municipality of which it is the center: 43302 inhabitants, of which a majority of Albanian.

Topicality

Between 1999 and 2001, an organization called Armed with Release of Preševo, Medveđa and Bujanovac (Ushtria Çlirimtare E Preshevës, Medvegjës dhe Bujanocit) opera in the area, with the goal to associate these three municipilities in Kosovo. After one period of agitation, the situation in 2007 seems rather stabilized.
