Building Marine
The real Navy located 355, rue Burrard at Vancouver, Colombia-British, V6C 2G8, Canada has a general style and much of beautiful details Art déco.
Conceived and financed by the Lieutenant Ordering J.W. Hobbs of Toronto, it was open the October 7th 1930. It was then the most skyscraper in the city until in 1939. Because of the Great depression, it was sold with the Guinness family of Ireland for only: 900000 dollars. The tax evaluation of 2004 east 22 million dollars.
Inside, of the elevators whose doors are out of brass, have the covered walls of twelve varieties of wood hard buildings. The common parts, in particular the hall, present a whole marine animal-life, astrological signs and the state of the means of transport of the time.
During the restoration of the years 1982 with 1989 to level the electric, mechanical systems and of air conditioning, the “linoleum of battleship” (imported Scotland) in the entry was replaced by marble. The old commercial exchange was also withdrawn (the mural one of the world) to be transformed into a Chinese restaurant of luxury. The floor was covered and raised to make it possible to the dineurs to benefit from the sight by large picture windows.
