May 21st, 1999, Bugz was awaited for a show with Grand Rapids in the state of Michigan, for part of the concert of Eminem. That day, Bugz, a friend, and the cousin of this friend spent their afternoon to the park of Belle Isle to Detroit. A dispute started when a man sprinkled the cousin of the friend of Bugz with a water pistol high pressure. The dispute degenerated and a brawl burst between the various protagonists, Bugz included. Suddenly a friend of the man to the water pistol arrived in a Ford Expedition, left a rifle, and drew on Bugz, which had not even noticed it besides. Bugz accepted three balls with bearing end, one in the neck, and two in the chest. Then the men crushed it with their Ford Expedition. An ambulance was called, but very dense circulation on the bridge of Beautiful Isle delayed it. It took him 30 minutes to arrive on the spot. Bugz was transported to the hospital nearest, but could not be saved. It had just been 21 years old.

Since the members of the group D12 were to be 6 they have to find a substitute with Bugz and this one was Swift (AKA Swifty Mac Vay).

It sometimes happens to them to still refer to him in their words, especially in the title Bugs 97 ' included in the album D12 World. The piece " Good Die Young" on the album D12 World is also dedicated to him.
