Buffalo Springfield

Buffalo Springfield is an rock group formed in 1966 and composed initially of Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay, Dewey Martin and Bruce Palmer.

Stephen Stills is at the origin of the formation of the group. Based then Los Angeles, he asks Richie Furay to join it, then with Neil Young which made a career solo of folk singer in Canada. The legend wants that Stills and Furay were blocked in a congestion in Los Angeles when they saw a hearse registered in Ontario, Neil Young had been used for about it to pass the border in fraud, thus they found Neil Young of which they were with research to found the group.

Neil Young will bring her basic player Bruce Palmer, then the beater Dewey Martin will come to supplement the group.

Their first disc left in 1967 created sensation, all the compositions were of Stills and Young.

A song written by Stills “ For what it' S worth ” was a great success (7th sale of individual) and made it possible to launch the group. Its peaceful message was used in many films and series, and in any case practically any fiction from which the action occurs in the years 1960 or 1970 or refers to it: the Years very favorite, Born one July 4th, Kings of the desert, Forrest Gump, At the White House, Jarhead, end of innocence and Lord off War.

After their second disc, the bass player Jim Messina joined the group (it will found later the group Loggins & Messina). Ritchie Furay composes some titles then.

Between several arrests, they succeed in making a third album “Last Time Around”.

The group separated in 1968 following dissensions between Stills and Young, they wanted both to direct the group. They will continue both of brilliant careers solo before meeting a little later in the super-group Crosby Stills Nash & Young. Their sides, Furay and Messina formed the group Poco.
