Buddhadasa
Worthy Ajahn Buddhadasa Bhikkhu (1906-1993), reads. slave of the Buddha, was a Buddhist monk inhabitant of Thailand. Tradition of the Theravada, bhikkhu Buddhadasa was the founder of the monastery Suan Mokkh, the Garden of the Release, with Surat Thani.
When it is 20 years old, Budhadasa becomes monk, in a monastery of Bangkok. It found this monastery dirty and corrupted. It leaves the capital and, benefitting from an old given up monastery, returns to a simple pratiqure; it gives up the ritual useless ones, the attachment with these ceremonies being one of the Ten bonds now captive of the Samsara, or forsakes the stakes of being able.
In 1932, it founds Wat Suan Mokkh, the Jardin of Release .
He taught a time the practice of Samatha bhavana, driving with a great peace, but forsook then this practice to come to essence Vipassana, the higher vision, more austere but more direct. Its practice refers on the 16 levels of Anapanasati, in accordance with the texts in Pâli.
Buddhadasa studied the other Buddhist currents as well as the others Religion S, seeing in all the schools a similar principle.
He studied the social conditions as much and founded the concept of Socialisme dhammic, referring to the concern of Gautama Bouddha vis-a-vis misery, including economic.
Buddhadasa dies of one heart attack at the 87 years age.
