Buddha sonriente

Jacques Boyvin is a Organiste and Compositeur French probably born with Paris between 1649 and 1655 and died with Rouen the June 30th 1706.

After studies in Paris, it becomes in 1674 titular organist of the Cathédrale Notre-Dame of Rouen, prestigious station illustrated by Jehan Titelouze and which it occupies during the remainder of his life. It supervises the rebuilding there, by the factor Robert Clicquot, of the large organ with four keyboards. It also holds the platform of the Saint-Herbland church in this same city.

It leaves two books of organ (1689 and 1700) each one written in the eights tons ecclesiastical and including/understanding on the whole 120 parts grouped in 16 continuations. These parts with liturgical destination adopt, in an imposing style, the forms elaborate and diffused by Lebègue and Nivers. At the head of the second book is a Traité shortened accompaniment . Its explanations concerning registration are an essential source with regard to the execution of the music of organ in France at the time of Loui XIV.

One of its pupils is François d' Agincourt which succeeds to him the platform of the cathedral of Rouen.
