Buck Shelford
Buck Shelford , of its true name Wayne Thomas Shelford , (born the December 13rd, 1957 with Rotorua) is a former player of Rugby to XV New Zealand which played 48 times (including 22 tests matches and 26 as captain) for the All-Blacks of 1985 with 1990. It was a player of 1,89 m and 93 kg who played third line center.
Biography
It made its beginnings with the club of North Shore with the All-Blacks in 1985 at the time of a round in Argentine.In 1986 it disputed the tests matches against the team of France.
He then played five of the six matches of Blacks at the time of the World cup of Rugby 1987 of which the finale gained against against the team of France to Auckland. This same year it gained the Bledisloe Cup against the Australia with Sydney, then became captain of Blacks starting from their round with the Japan.
As a captain, he knew one period ostentation with Blacks, any defeat and only one tie (against the Australia) of 1975 with 1990. It is necessary to add however that there no were matches against the Springboks, in sign of protest against the Apartheid practiced in South Africa.
Shelford did not play that two matches with Blacks in 1990 then was not retained any more as “a All-Blacks” (it disputed matches with other selections). Its not-selection was regretted by its supporters, especially after the defeat of Blacks against the Australia.
He then reconverted himself as trainer, fascinating charges the team with it with North Harbor in 1998. Just after the world cup, it came to play with his beautiful brother Mac Donald pillar all black with the TOEC.
