Bucinobantes

The Bucinobantes (in German: Bucinobanten ) was Germanic people of the area of the town of Mainz on the river of Main.

The Historian Am Marcellin wrote that Julien César crossed the river close to Hand in 359 for negotiations with Macrian, the chief of Bucinobantes and with other Germanic chiefs.

After several rebellions against the Roman Empire, the emperor Valentinien Ier failed in its attempt (with the assistance of the Burgondes) to stop Macrian. Valentinien Ier named Fraomar as a chief of Bucinobantes, but of the last refused accpter this nomination. In 371 Valentinien was forced to be appropriate for an alliance with Mecrian.
