Buccaneer operation

The Opération Buccaneer is the name given to an operation of great scale orchestrated by the authorities of various countries (the United States, Great Britain, Australia, Norway and Finland) in order to dismantle networks of hackings responsible for the illicit diffusion of Video games, musics, films and of Logiciel S.

This operation was started in September 2000, by an advertisement of John Ashcroft then Secretary of State to justice. The police force proceeded to many searchings in the large universities, the companies and the residences of private individuals. The operation made it possible to stop, amongst other things, of the pirates of the group Warez DrinkOrDie like Chritopher Tresco, as well as group Razor 1911.

In 2005, thirteen people had already pled guilty and ten were condemned following this operation.
