the Young ladies of Rochefort is a Musical film French of Jacques Demy left in 1967.

Synopsis

Solange and Delphine are two binoculars of a score of years. Raised without their father that they never knew, the two young women vainly seek the love in the streets of Rochefort. One day, of open are installed on the place of the small town. The mother of the binoculars, director of a small coffee, meets two open, Etienne and Bill. She sends them to seek the youngest child of the Boubou family which soon will leave the school. They then see Delphine also come to seek her brother and they speak to him before Delphine from goes away. Solange, who is musician, decides to go to see the shop of music where it meets the father of Boubou (but that it does not know it). This one speaks to him about one of its in love which left. A sailor, painter and poet, Maxence, want to also find his ideal to him female. It paints a portrait of this ideal and this portrait resembles Delphine curiously. An American pianist, Andy, see Solange one day in the street and in tomb in love. The representation day before, Bill and Etienne lost two girls who left them and find themselves without numbers. Delphine and Solange agree to play. At the end, Andy and Solange will become engaged, the mother and the father of Boubou will find themselves and Maxence and Delphine to meet.

  • the film was turned simultaneously in French and English.

  • Francoise Dorléac, then in full glory, dies tragically in an car accident close to Nice three months after the exit of the film, which is its last but one and the only one where it divides the poster with her sister, Catherine Deneuve. She was late to take the plane which would lead it to London where she was to attend the first of the english language version of film.

  • Danielle Darrieux is the only actress not doubled for the song. Hundreds of hearings were necessary to find voices sung similar to the voices spoken about the other actors.

  • Agnès Varda turned documentary on the turning of the Young ladies of Rochefort and the print which the film left on the inhabitants in “the Young ladies of Rochefort had 25 years” (1992)

  • In 2003, a Musical comedy was assembled starting from the original booklet of the film to which one added a few original pieces. The troop occurred with Paris, to the Palais of the congresses carries Maillot and will occur in all the France. It was supervised by Michel Legrand.

  • 40000 m ² of frontages were repainted in Rochefort for film.
