Xavier Haas , (1907 - 1950) painter and engraver
It was born in Paris, its family is of Alsatian origin. It loses his father with the war of 1914-1918. It was conquered by Brittany which it discovered in 1919 with Sarzeau (Morbihan), during a long stay with Lan Hoëdic where it tried to recover from a Poliomyélite contracted to old six years, in Alsace, this disease was to upset its life. It then becomes acquainted with Xavier de Langlais, which becomes his/her friend. Reached Poliomyélite it took part in the foundation of the Association of paralyzed France and in its newspaper “ Faire Face ”.
It is received with the École of Beautiful arts of Paris where it will make a short passage. It joined the Breton artistic organization Seiz Breur in 1936 at the time of the International exhibition of Paris in 1937, where it animates the model of the House of Brittany. He also collaborates in the Breton Atelier of Christian art , founded in 1929 by James Bouillé and Xavier de Langlais, thus in 1936 it was brought to create the framing of the stations of the way of cross of the Notre-Dame church of La Baule (Loire-Atlantique). Near to the Breton National Left, it illustrates its works during the Second world war. It had bound in particular friendship with the type-setter Georges Arnoux and the Alsatian painter Georges Cornélius, which had settled with Ploubazlanec.
Its work remains unfinished.
