Brunstatt

Brunstatt is a common French located in the southern suburbs of Mulhouse. It belongs to the department Haut-Rhin and area Alsace. Its inhabitants is called Brunstattois and Brunstattoises.

Geography

History

The source of Burnen was already known at the time Neolithic and especially at the time Roman. But the origins of Brunstatt are unknown. A document compiled towards 1200 and wrongfully dated from the IXe century, speaks about possessions of the Couvent of the Mont Sainte-Odile.

  • 1310/1648 Brunstatt became Fief Count of Ferrette by decision of the Empereur of Austria on June 13rd, 1648
  • June 13rd 1648 the castle was attacked by the Mulhousians and the Confédérés during “the Guerre of the six sums of money”
  • 1495 the castle was sold to the count de Thierstein
  • 1523 Revente of the castle to the noble of Ortenburg-Salamanca
  • 1644 Acquisition of the castle by Martin Besenval, member of the Grand the Council of Soleure
  • August 1657 This last bought the remainder of the village
  • December 29th 1674 the Maréchal of Turenne fought battle to the Impériaux. The castle was taken in the morning of the New year
  • 1721/1791 the last lord of Brunstatt , Pierre Joseph Victor Besenval, occupied a dominating position at the court of Versailles
  • 1791 the French revolution put an end to this seigniory
  • 1857 Démolition of the castle during the construction of the Railway Mulhouse - Belfort
  • 1872 Réalisation of the fountain Saint-Georges
  • October 8th 1882 Consécration of the Chapelle of the Cross of Burn
  • 1900/1901 Connection with the electricity and water supply networks
  • August 19th 1914 the 19th Dragons ordered by the Lieutenant-colonel Thouvet launched a heroic load against the German . It was a hecatomb
  • November 17th 1918 6 days after the Armistice, the French troops return to Brunstatt ; the commune is released
  • October 12th 1924 Consécration of the church St Georges rebuilt following the fire of 1914
  • Nov. 20/21 1944 Libération by the 2nd RCA - Died of the Lance sergeant LACOMBE
  • May 14th 1953 Consécration of the church co. Odile
  • 1965 Début of work of Assainissement
  • 1980 Jumelage with Markt-Dinkelscherben (Germany)
  • 1987 - 1988 Construction of the Municipal hall of the Sports
  • 1991 Achèvement of the construction of the Basin laying-up of Storm of 81000 M ³
  • 1994 - 1995 Restoration of the St-Georges Hearth, baptized and famous “Saint-Georges Space”
