Bruno Buchberger
Bruno Buchberger is a Austrian Mathématicien born the October 22nd 1942 with Innsbruck. Buchberger is known for its definition of the bases of Gröbner as for a Algorithme of calculation of the bases of Gröbner which carries its name. Buchberger is mathematics professor for the computer with the Johannes Kepler Universität of Linz in Austria.
Between 1960 and 1966, Buchberger follows studies of mathematics to the Université of Innsbruck, also studying experimental physics and the Philosophie.
In its thesis of mathematics entitled “ an algorithm to find a base vectorial of the class of residue of a ring modulo a polynomial ideal of dimension zero ” ( Ein Algorithmus zum Auffinden der Basiselemente of Restklassenrings nach einem nulldimensionalen Polynomideal ) and supported in 1965, Buchberger founds the bases of the theory of the bases of Gröbner, which it names according to the name of its reader, Wolfgang Gröbner. It describes also a algorithm making it possible to calculate a base of Gröbner for a polynomial ideal starting from a generating whole of the ideal and an order on the students' rag processions. This algorithm will be refined later on. This work is very important in algebraic Géométrie, commutative Algèbre or non-linear geometry.
Buchberger supports a Habilitation in mathematics in 1973 under the title “On the decompositions of numerations of Gödel” ( One Decompositions off Gödel Numberings ). Since 1995, he works in the project Theorema of the university of Linz.
Buchberger off founds in 1985 the Journal Symbolic Computation , one of the most important newspapers in formal Calcul.
In 1987, Buchberger bases and directs the Research Institute for Symbolic Computation (RISC), an research institute international on the calculation formal and located at the university Johannes Kepler de Linz.
Buchberger is member of the European Academy off Sciences since 1991. It is titular of a doctorate '' honoris causa '' of the universities of Nimègue (since 1993) and of Timişoara (since 2000). In 1999, it receives the gold medal of the federal government of the Bundesland of High-Austria.
