Bruffière

Bruffière is a common French, located in the department of the the Vendée and the area Pays of the Loire.

These inhabitants is called bruffièriens and bruffièriennes .

Geography

The commune of Bruffière is located at the crossing of the departments of the the Vendée (85), of the Maine-et-Loire (49) and of the Loire-Atlantique (44). It is with the locality " Three Provinces" , to 3 km of the borough, that the old provinces of the Brittany, the Anjou and the Poitou meet.

Bruffière is located at 40 km of Nantes, 25 km of Cholet and 50 km of the Roche-sur-Yon. The commune extends on 4044 ha from Bocage in North East from the Vendée. It is bordered by the Nantes Sèvre, river that throws itself in the the Loire in Nantes.

History

During the top Moyen-âge of ceaseless quarrels Bretons, Francs and Visigoths oppose. They lead in 983 to the creation of zones " plug " : Steps Brittany-Poitou. The water tower

With the crossroads of the four roads, draws up one of the highest water towers of the world. The church

The castle of Echasserie

The first known lord of Echasserie, Guillaume Wild, yields this field to the templiers at the beginning of the 13th century. The latter very quickly resell it in Charbonneau which will occupy it during fifteen dynasties until in 1738. This castle became soon the residence of Charles Serventeau, first mayor of Bruffière which was assassinated in obscure circumstances (probably by the young peasants of the commune exasperated by the revolutionist that it was) in March 1793. Louis François Richard of the Alder buys Echasserie and the dependences in 1806. Its young person sons, Francois, receives the cap of cardinal of Paris in 1889 by the pope Leon XIII. He completes the construction of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre. By successive heritage, only by the women, the castle becomes the property of Jeanne Of Rosel of St-Germain, current owner. Echasserie is registered with the Additional Inventory of the Historic buildings since 1971.

The home of the Barn

In February 1796, Charrette supported one of its last combat there. Whereas it rested there with its troops, it missed little being captured there. Protected by its rear-guard (which will be destroyed in the shooting), he managed to escape by an hidden door.
