Course with Shadows

Pioneers of the European rock'n'roll in 1958, Shadows accumulate the international hits at the beginning of their career, initially in company of Cliff Richard, then in solo. They have the most influential group of the moment. " Apache" in particular, the pop music in 1960 will upset. With " Wonderful Land" (N°1 in 1962, the title more sold in the United Kingdom of all the decade 60s - more than any other individual, including Beatles), they are the first to mix electric guitars with a traditional orchestra. They will be the largest salesmen of disc in the world into 1962/1963 and singent tens of hits in the whole world of until the end from the 60 ' S. They still to date have the group by far more titrated British charts.

They find success after a short separation, with considerable sales and several N°1 in the years 1970 in the United Kingdom (albums 20 Goldens delicious Greats and String off Hits exceeds each one the million of sold discs), and of many albums disc of gold and platinum in the Années 1980.

The group separates in 1990 after a last Signal 5 then is reformed for a best off (new Signal 10 and gold disc in the United Kingdom) and two triumphal rounds in 2004 (United Kingdom primarily) and 2005 (Europe, of which Paris with the Grand Rex) whose concerts were recorded on a box doubles CD and on 1 DVD " The Shadows Final Tour".

Rewards

Elected official in 2000 by the magazine Guitarist " Rhythmic guitarist of the siècle" (in front of Keith Richards of the Stones), Welch also composed and produces several N°1 international out of Shadows for its ex partner Olivia Newton-John like for Cliff Richard.
