Bruce Sterling (April 14th 1954 -) is a American author of Science-fiction, often included in the lists of authors of the movement Cyberpunk (partly to have published the first Anthology Cyberpunk, Mozart out of glasses mirrors ).

Its Romance first , the Whale of Sands , presents the world of Nullaqua where all the atmosphere is contained in a single crater, deep several kilometers. The history relates to a boat sailing on the oceans of dust and driving out creatures, the whales of sands, which live under surface.

Towards the end of the Years 1970 and afterwards, Sterling wrote the texts of the Mécas/Morphos cycle: the solar system is entirely colonized by the man, and two principal factions clash there. The Mechanists employ implants based on mechanics, electronics and data processing, Morphos practice the genetic engineering with large scales. The situation is complicated by the contact with civilizations Extra-terrestre S and the fact that humanity separates gradually in several distinct subspecies, with the implication that much of them is erased indeed galaxy. The Mécas/Morphos cycle is consisted of the collection Cristal Express train and the novel Schismatrice + .

In his birthplace of Austin (Texas), the author is known to organize each year a “festival of Christmas” proposing the numerical Art.

In the Years 1980, Sterling published a series of Fanzine S called Cheap Truth under the pseudonym of Vincent Omniaveritas.
