Its BeginningsBruce Dickinson made its beginnings with the Paradox group which became Styx thereafter. He also sang for Speed and Shots of 1977 to 1979 but started to be truly known of the English public only with the group Samson. It is at the time of a concert with Reading that it is located by Steve Harris and Rod Smallwood in order to succeed Paul Di' Anno forced to leave the group Iron Maiden in 1981. Bruce Dickinson is immediately adopted; it will sign thereafter several compositions for the group (cf Iron Maiden).
In SoloIn 1990, whereas it is always within Iron Maiden, it records its first album solo Tattooed Millionaire . It will spend only two small weeks to conceive it under the crook of Chris Tsangarides, producer of famous “the Painkiller” of Judas Priest. Tattooed Millionaire , album carried out with some Janick Gers with the guitar and which was to be only one occupation of holidays, will have been sold all the same with 500.000 specimens throughout the world.
In 1992, it wishes to renew its preceding adventure as a recluse and it is with the support of Rod Smallwood, which manages it him and Iron Maiden, that it works out the preparation of its second album solo, initially entitled Workaholic , that he envisages to leave in November 1992. After many tests of writing, it realizes that it has at its disposal of new musical possibilities which it never imagines to be able to introduce into Iron Maiden and thus decides to leave the group on February 22nd, 1993. At the time of its ultimate round with Iron Maiden, it composes its future album famous solo Balls to Picasso in only 4 weeks. The album is recorded in England with the Métropolis studios in London. On this album, Bruce is accompanied by the musicians of Tribe off Gypsies, met with Los Angeles, of which in particular the guitarist Roy Z who will coécrira the majority of the songs present on the album. Balls to Picasso leaves in 1994 and will be sold with more than 300.000 specimens.
Conscious that it cannot associate the group of Roy Z, based in Los Angeles and preparing their album, to assemble a true round, it recruits young musicians (Alex Dickson with the guitar, Chris Dale with low and Alessandro Elena with the battery) with whom it starts his world tour for the promotion of its new album. In same time, dissatisfied with the work of EMI Group on the promotion carried out for Balls to Picasso , it breaks its contract, signs at Raw Power and records in the tread in London what will be the future double album Live At the Marquee and Live in Studio has put on sale during the second fortnight of February (1995).
In May 1995, it again enters in studio (in Great Linford Manor) but this time decides that its next opus will not leave any more under its name but under that of Skunkworks , group which it bases with the musicians present on the round of Balls to Picasso . Endino jack, known in particular for its work on Bleach of Nirvana, is selected to produce the entirety of the album. Over one period of approximately 8 weeks until the end of June, 17 titles will be recorded. The projects of Bruce will be, nevertheless, very quickly opposed by the exit, on October 2nd, of the The X Factor of Iron Maiden. Not wishing that its old formation involves a under-mediatization of its future album, Bruce decides to work over again the mixing of the whole to the Lansdowne studios, in London, until the end of November. The album will leave finally only on February 26th 1996. In spite of a reception of the album in the press very positive, success, in certain countries like Japan and the USA is not really with go. After the round, the group will meet to work of new titles and will be séparerera following musical divergences between Bruce Dickinson and Alex Dickson.
Some time afterwards, Bruce receives a telephone call of Roy Z. The latter makes him listen to a few pieces that it composed and persuades it to return so that it can do best, of the heavy metal. Bluffé by the compos of Roy (it will say, later, in the press that the work of Roy on Balls to Picasso accounted for only 50% of its true talent), Bruce is convinced and decides that it is really time to play on the plat bands of Iron Maiden. All two begin the writing of what will be the future Accident off Birth . As work advances, Bruce realizes that this new opus will need a second guitarist. It then decides to call upon his friend and former colleague Adrian Smith. Accident off Birth leaves in May 1997 and is produced by Roy Z itself, decided to make us discover another of these hidden talents. Adulated by the press, Bruce makes a success of its bet while returning on its ground " boots with the pieds". The album is such a success that it has of them even echoes of its old group (Iron Maiden) and more particularly of some Nicko McBrain which will not be spared.
After debatable sales and this, in spite of an artistic criticism of the unanimous press, Bruce continuous in its impetus and leaves in 1998, The Chemical Wedding . The album wants to be darker than its predecessors and is dedicated to the genius William Blake. It is carried out consequently team and does not have evil like its predecessor to convince the press. It is on this occasion that Bruce creates its own label under the name of AirRaidRecords (indeed, it decides to treat to itself its promotion, not being satisfied with its preceding labels). In parallel, it launches the republication of its first albums under Samson, thus making it possible many people to get them.
In 1999, after its world tour, of strange rumors are made hear; Bruce would reinstate Iron Maiden. After a few months of Bruce waiting and Steve Harris put an end to the rumors and a press release is sent informing of its return as well as that of his/her comrade and guitarist Adrian Smith; its successor Blaze Bayley is thanked without no word being formulated in its connection. Iron Maiden leaves Brave New World in 2000, first album marking the return of Bruce and Adrian. In the tread will follow Rock in Rio , album live of the Brave New World Tour (for the continuation to see Iron Maiden).
Despite everything the showman did not say its last word since it will return, accompanied by from now on celebrates Roy Z, in 2005 with new a opus solo Tyranny off Drunk . Album which like the others will be an artistic success.
Bruce also showed us its talents of writer with Lord iffy Boatrace which had a certain success; the editor even asked him for a continuation of it. He was fencer and is pilot today of plane. He flies besides on the occasion on lines mails means. The allegations with which it would have evacuated the Lebanese one at the time of the conflict in Lebanon into 2006 however are proven false. Bruce Dickinson animates also its radio program " Bruce Dickinson' S Show" Rock'n'roll; every saturday on BBC-6 Music.
