Brouvelieures

Brouvelieures is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine. Its inhabitants is called Brouvillois.

Geography

The commune is located on the Mortagne, affluent left of the Meurthe, to 392 m of altitude. It is distant of 4 km Bruyères, of 20 km the Saint-Dié-of-Vosges by the collar of the High Jacques and 28 km Épinal. Located in a strongly wooded sector, it is the least populated Vosgean chief towns of canton.

History

The history of Brouvelieures is accurately represented by its blazon, of azure to the alongside cross of Lorraine of gold of the letters B and V of the same with points of it the gold seal of the Temple to the bent chief of mouths to the gold cross.

B and V are the initial ones of its Latin name, Beronis Villa , and the cross of Lorraine translates its membership of the duchy. The Templiers had a house with Brouvelieures and the cross of the chief indicates that the parish is under the invocation of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

In 1870 took place a confrontation between mobiles franc-tireurs and German. Theater of engagements at the time of the Second world war, in particular during the Battle of Heathers, the city received the Military Cross the 39-45 on November 11th, 1948.
