Brothers the Dwarf

Antoine , Louis and Mathieu the Dwarf were painter S French of the beginning of the XVII {{E}} century. They were born all the three in Laon and had a house with Burgundian-under-Montbavin: Mathieu in 1607, Antoine and Louis, respectively in 1588 and 1593 according to certain historians, right before and right after 1600 according to others. In 1630 they lived all the three with Paris.

Because of remarkable similarity between their style of painting and the difficulty in differentiating works from each brother (they signed all their fabrics with their only Family name and some were to be common works), they are generally indicated like the brothers the Dwarf . Louis is usually credited with their most famous paintings, a series of scenes describing the life Paysan. The brothers also carried out Miniatures (for the majority allotted to Antoine) and of the Portraits (allotted to Mathieu). Mathieu became the official painter of Paris in 1633 and made knight.

Antoine and Louis die in 1648. Mathieu in 1677.
