Brotherhood of charity
In Normandy, a brotherhood of charity is an association of parish, the charitons , which ensure voluntarily the Inhumation S and take part in the religious offices. Each Brotherhood, attached to a parish, is characterized by its particular banner. It usually lays out of a Rules of procedure. The members are the alderman or Master, the provost, the clerk, the clocheteux tintenellier or, and the brothers.
This institution goes back to the beginning of the 2nd millenium. It is particularly preserved in the Département of the Eure, which in account still 108. One also finds some in the Calvados and some in Seine-Maritime.
