Brothel
Lupanar is a synonym of closed house , establishment offering the service of prostitutes. More discrete than its popular synonym brothel , this term is rather used by French-speaking Europeans , but uncommon with the Quebec.
Etymology
Latin lupus (wolf), prostitutes of the ancient Rome being called shves-wolf.

In Pompéi
One found the ruins of a brothel of ten rooms with Pompéi, in area VII of the excavations. It is only dedicated to this activity, knowing that the stages of the taverns also often fulfilled the function of brothel. Close to the entry of the ground floor was painted, close to a fig tree, a Priape with two phalli, holding its members one in each hand.
