Places and monuments

The Château Adam is the oldest monument of the commune of Brix. It draws its name from Adam de Bruis or Brix, lord of the place, living in XIe century.

It is about an enclosure formed by an important lifting of ground with its ditch, and interior court, the whole placed at the top of a barred spur. This principal enclosure is accompanied towards the west by a low court itself protected by a hillock and its ditch. This last enclosure is nothing any more but partially visible.

Until 1204, stone constructions existed in the enclosure located at the end of the barred spur. A round tower seems to have ordered the place. There remain nothing any more but not easily readable substuctions about it.

The site was repurchased at the XIXe century by another family of Brix . In 1912, a new castle was built on part of the old low court, in the style of the XVIIIe French century. The war of 1914-1918 did not allow completion of it, which saved destruction a house presbytérale XVIIe century
