Brittany and self-management
Brittany and self-management are the name of a conference, held the 23 and June 24th 1973 with Ripe-of-Brittany, of which the objective " was to try to specify the contents of the Autogestion and its immediate applications and in the long term with Breton reality ". Organized on the initiative of militants political, trade-union and associative Breton, whose members of PSU, Breton Communist party, CFDT, MJRC, Peasant-workers, workmen of Big Dutchman… It had a real success (approximately 130 people assisted to with it) and gathered a very broad range of organizations of the Breton Extreme-left and Breton movements.
The call to the conference was signed by J. Bars (PSU), G.Beauto (peasant-worker), Y.M. Biget (anarchistic trade unionist), J. - P. Boinet (working in Big Ducthman), J.Carel (peasant-worker), Yann-Morvan Gefflot (Breton Communist party), Alain Guel (writer), A. Guillerm (PSU), Fañch Kerrain (teacher), J. the One-eyed one (workman), Gwenc' hlan Scouëzec (doctor).
In addition to the organizations present in the call, several groups were represented: the nationalist party of right-hand side Strollad Ar Vro, Sav Breizh, the communist League, the anarchistic Gathering of Rennes, and the militants Maoists of Red Humanity and the Cause of the People of which Jean-Pierre Dantec. Jean Bars drew a relatively positive assessment from this conference. The great diversity of the organizations present had allowed a vast confrontation of the ideas, even if this one tended to deviate sometimes because of the dissensions with the Maoists, for whom self-management did not bring anything again, as with certain Breton parties which considered that the socialist revolution could take the form of a national liberation struggle. A consensus had however emerged around two points: the recognition of self-management like makes political, and the recognition of claims particular to the Brittany (right to life and to work with the country, equality of the work conditions and wages with the other French areas, right for the Breton Langue to a place equal to French in teaching, the administration, bodies of information).
