Presentation

At the end of the XIXe century, Cheshire Cat in " Alice with the country of the wonders " of Lewis Carroll (1865) is already represented under the aspect of British Shorthair tabby. At the same time, stockbreeders English, such as H. Weir selected the most beautiful ordinary cats which were exposed for the first time to the Hook De luxe hotel of London in 1871. They were called British Shorthair to distinguish them on the one hand foreign cats (foreign), Eastern and on the other hand, to differentiate them from the cats with long hairs such as the Angora. It is the counterpart of European with short hairs of the continental Europe and American Shorthair of the the United States. First British, primarily blue-gray, pointed out the Chartreux. This resemblance involved crossings between these two races, so much so that F.I.Fe decided to recognize only one race. But, in 1977, F.I.Fe again separated the two races with prohibition to cross them. Previously, British Cat Club had been created, in 1901. After the Second world war, one practiced crossings with Persan S to weigh down and round the silhouette of British while widening the range of the colors of the dress. In the same way, of new reasons such as the colourpoint were recognized. In the United States, where it was crossed with American Shorthair, British Shorthair was recognized by the C.F.A. in 1980. Ultimate published by the T.I.C.A. goes back to 1993. In France, the F.F.F approved it in 1979. This cat is very popular
