British Association for the Advancement off Science
The British Association for the Advancement off Science (British association for the advance in knowledge) or the BA as calls it the British, is created in 1831.
It is an association with nonlucrative goal of which the goal is to put sciences and their applications to the range of all.
BA in particular sheltered a vigorous debate on June 30th, 1860 between the representative of Charles Darwin, Thomas Henry Huxley and the bishop of Oxford, Samuel Wilberforce which refused “to go down from the monkey”.
Its goal is to promote the opening to science in the company and to encourage the engagement of all in sciences and technology. It organizes each year a Festival of Science through all the the United Kingdom and a Week of Science. BA - at the time still called BAATH - is in particular at the origin of the Système CGS which he proposes in 1874.
