Brithenig
The brithenig is an invented language, or built Langue (" conlang"). It was created in 1996, by leisure, Andrew Smith of New Zealand, which then created the Uchronie of Ill Bethisad in order to explain it.
The brithenig was not invented to be used in the real-world, like the Esperanto, nor to provide details to a fictitious work, like the languages of the Elves of J.R.R. Tolkien or klingon of Star Trek. The brithenig was rather a intellectual experiment aiming at creating a Romance language which would have evolved/moved starting from the Latin , if this last had been able to replace old the Celtic in England.
The result, although it is about a Bébé test-tube, is a language " sœur" French, Spanish and Italian , different from these last, since its sounds followed change similar to the Welsh language and the Celtic words and English during its fictitious history.
The brithenig is very respected among the conlanguists, because this imaginary language can be regarded as most satisfactory of the kind. It is the first built language resulting from a handling of known languages, for which was conceived a different evolution, and can be seen like an ancestor of this sub-genus.
Other similar efforts to interpret a Romance language are: Breathanach (influenced of another branch of Celtic), Judajca (influenced of Hebrew) and the Wenedyk (influenced of Polish).
