Geography

According to the Office of the Census of the United States, surface of the east city of 50,2 km ², including 41,4 km ² of grounds and 8,8 km ² of water levels (either 17,53%).

Bridgeport, as its names suggests, is located on a port of Long Island Sound.

The metropolitan zone of Bridgeport counts approximately: 450000 inhabitants. It is called “the city of the parks”.

Demography

According to the Census of 2000, there was: 139529 inhabitants: 50307 households and: 32749 families in the city. The Population density was of: 3367,0 hab/km ². There was: 54367 houses with a density of: 1312,0 maisons/km ². The ethnic decomposition of the population was: 45,02% white; 30,76% black; 0,48% Amerindian; 3,25% Asian S; 0,11% natives of the islands of the Peaceful ; 14,81% of the other races; 5,57% of two or more races. 31,88% of the population were Hispanique or Latino of any race.
