Bricquebec is a common French, located in the department of the Manche and the area Basse-Normandie. Its inhabitants is called Bricquebétais.

Geography

History

As the etymology of its name reveals it, the origins of Bricquebec (of the Scandinavian bekkr , river, preceded by brekka , the slope) are attached to the epopee of the invaders Viking S, very firmly established in Cotentin at the beginning of the 10th century.

The tradition allots the foundation of the castle to the Normand Anslech. The dukes of Normandy had done of Bricquebec one the their place-strong ones.
